I build automation systems for dairies, agriculture, and operations-heavy businesses.
From herd analytics to financial dashboards to AI-powered workflows — I turn messy operations into clean systems.

What I Do
Systems built for people
in the field.
01
AI & Data Systems
- Supabase + natural language querying
- Forecasting & predictive analytics
- AI-powered operational reporting
02
Dairy & Ag Systems
- Herd tracking & embryo inventory
- Feed analytics & ration management
- Genetics, reproduction & risk tools
03
Automation & Integrations
- API integrations (VisionLink, scale data)
- ETL pipelines & data normalization
- Push & SMS notification systems
04
Financial & KPI Systems
- GAAP hedging dashboards
- Cost of gain & breakeven models
- Real-time KPI & margin tracking
Projects
Things I've built.
HerdOptix Platform
Dairy & AgProblem
Embryo and genetics data was split across spreadsheets, vet records, and disconnected software — no single view of herd decisions.
Solution
Centralized herd management platform with Supabase as the data layer and a Claude-powered AI query interface for natural language reporting.
Outcome
Real-time visibility into embryo inventory, genetics performance, and reproduction decisions across the entire operation.
Maintenance QR System
AutomationProblem
Field teams had no way to log equipment maintenance without going back to a desk. Paper logs got lost or were never filed.
Solution
QR codes on every piece of equipment link to a mobile-first form — scan, log, done. No login, no app install, no friction.
Outcome
Eliminated paper logs entirely. Maintenance history is searchable and tied to specific equipment.
GAAP Hedge Tracker
FinancialProblem
Dairy hedging positions required manual GAAP reconciliation every period — a multi-hour spreadsheet process prone to error.
Solution
Automated dashboard that pulls futures positions, calculates mark-to-market, tracks settlements, and produces GAAP-compliant P&L output.
Outcome
Eliminated manual reconciliation. Finance team gets clean hedge accounting on demand.
DairyCFO Tools
FinancialProblem
No single source of truth for cost of gain, breakeven milk price, or input costs — decisions made on gut feel and stale data.
Solution
Integrated financial models pulling live operational data to calculate KPIs across feed, labor, and input costs in real time.
Outcome
Breakeven and cost-of-gain models updated daily. Faster, more accurate financial decisions.
ETL Pipeline Suite
Data InfrastructureProblem
Scale data, VisionLink telematics, feed records, and market prices all lived in separate systems with no common format.
Solution
Automated ETL pipelines that ingest, normalize, and load external data on a schedule — one clean data layer for all analytics.
Outcome
Hundreds of data points ingested daily without manual intervention. Analytics run on current, unified data.
Operational Alert System
AutomationProblem
Critical events — scale errors, feed variances, reproduction alerts — were discovered hours late because they required checking dashboards.
Solution
Event-driven alert pipeline that detects anomalies and routes notifications to phone via ntfy. Configurable thresholds per event type.
Outcome
Immediate visibility into operational issues. Problems caught in minutes, not hours.
How I Think
I don't start with software — I start with the operation.
Most systems fail because they don't match real workflows. I spend time understanding the operation before touching a keyboard.
Start with data flow
Before writing a line of code, I map where data comes from, where it needs to go, and what gets lost or distorted in between.
Remove manual steps
If a human is doing the same thing every day, it should be automated. The best systems are the ones you forget you built.
Build for the field, not the office
Most software fails because it was designed for people at desks. I build for people on tractors, in feedlots, and in the parlor.
Simple interfaces win
QR codes, SMS alerts, no-login forms. If it requires onboarding, it won't get used. Friction is the enemy of adoption.
Layer AI last, not first
AI is a multiplier — it amplifies good data and good systems. I clean up the operation first, then add intelligence on top.
About
I build the tools
I wish existed.
I'm Seth — CFO at Arizona Dairy Co. and founder of SHN Solutions. My background spans dairy operations, finance, and software engineering, which means I understand the problems I'm solving from the inside out.
I started building internal tools because the software that existed for agriculture and dairy was either too generic, too expensive, or didn't match how real operations work. I take on a limited number of external builds and consulting projects each year.
Ideas I'm Exploring
What I'm thinking about building next.
Cattle Auction Analytics
Price prediction and historical trend analysis for cattle auctions. Know what to bid before you walk in the ring.
Embryo Marketplace
Centralized platform for buying and selling embryos with verified genetics, health records, and custody chain.
GAAP Hedge Tracker SaaS
Hedge accounting software built specifically for dairies — not adapted from commodity traders. GAAP-compliant by default.
Dairy AI Assistant
An AI layer that sits on top of your existing operational data and answers questions in plain English. Ask it anything.

The AI Adoption Trap: Why Piloting Forever Is Killing Your Competitive Position
Perpetual piloting isn't caution — it's a way to spend money on AI without getting any of the benefits, while competitors compound real operational advantages.

You Don't Have an AI Problem. You Have a Process Problem.
AI failure is almost never the AI's fault — it's what happens when you drop a powerful tool on top of a process nobody ever wrote down.
